We had travelled extensively before, but nothing prepared us for the depth of this journey. Our guide didn’t just show us ruins — he made us feel the weight of ten thousand years. Cappadocia at dawn, the silence of Göbekli Tepe, the way the light fell over the Euphrates. This is what travel should always be.
The boutique hotel in Mardin was unlike anything I’ve experienced. Stone arches, a terrace over the Mesopotamian plain, and silence. Anatolia understood exactly what we needed.
Istanbul with a private guide is a completely different city. We saw neighbourhoods I’d never find in any guidebook. The food tour through Balat alone was worth the entire trip.
Lake Van at sunrise, the Armenian church reflected in still water. I cried and I’m not ashamed to admit it. This journey changed how I see the world.
Six days on a private gulet — anchoring in empty coves, swimming over Lycian ruins beneath the water. The world disappeared. I want to go back immediately.
